17 Designs recently developed a unique and interesting E-Commerce Solution for Adaptall Inc. (written using PHP web development with custom jQuery scripts) that takes into account the requirements of their distributors in filling complex orders and shipping to thousands of different customers across North America.

Once a distributor is successfully validated and logged into the Adaptall E-Commerce portal, product stock is instantly accessible and from a simple SKU listing a distributor may add multiple products to a shopping cart and update quantities.

A range of shipping options exists using the UPS Shipping API and a unique feature shows the distributor the weight and shipping container size of any order being placed.

When product stock is depleted distributors are presented with an option to Inquire. To keep product stock in sync with actual inventory a server cron job updates the MySQL product database every 15 minutes.

For management of orders distributors may reference a detailed Account History at any time. In addition, when orders are not completed distributors are prompted to re-activate orders during their next login.

To assist with on-line activity, Adaptall staff may inquire into product views, orders in progress, orders placed, password resets, logins and logoffs.

Adaptall can also choose which options a distributor is eligible to pay by: a well-established distributor can pay according to preset terms, whereas a new distributor transaction will be processed and validated by credit card using www.stripe.com.

This E-Commerce Solution gives distributors access to the complete Adaptall product line which is over 8,400 products using a fantastic mobile-friendly web interface.

Have you ever been asked: “Would you like Fries with that?”

Or, how about: “Would you like the Combo Meal?”

E-Commerce Cross-Selling is a handy way for on-line businesses (and in our case local GTA manufacturers) to sell additional products related to a current purchase.  That way if you already know your customers are going to need an added component you can give them the option to include that with their shopping cart.

Cross-selling means knowing what is the cost of that added product and what product(s) it relates to.

We have developed useful and highly effective jQuery / PHP modules that provide for this added functionality.  What’s great about these modules is they also adapt perfectly to a smart phone or tablet making for a fantastic user experience.  When a customer adds a product to his / her shopping cart, a related product is automatically presented to the customer in the form of a popup with a prompt for additional purchase.  By simply clicking YES to a checkbox the shopping cart is updated as is the pricing structure and inventory.

17 Designs is very excited to showcase this new e-commerce tool and we were happy to develop it for Adaptall.

Looking to improve your custom website navigation and create a more informative user-experience?  The jQuery MegaMenu is a fantastic way to add product thumbnails to a website dropdown menu.  In addition, supporting paragraphs with headings can be added.  As can blockquotes, hypertext links and additional imagery (JPGs, transparent PNGs).  What’s even better about the MegaMenu is it’s mobile-friendly and content can be divided into [1 to 12] columns in the same manner as one would program using the Twitter boilerplate.  On a mobile device the MegaMenu automatically converts to a Google Hamburger menu making it a perfect navigation solution for any website.

Examples of how we incorporate the MegaMenu in various client websites are shown above.

We find the MegaMenu ideal for showcasing product categories, product benefits / features and available product options.  17 Designs will link a MegaMenu to a MySQL product database table to automatically generate navigation thumbnails using custom PHP libraries.  Exceptions can be added to program the MegaMenu for multiple language support or products that are based upon the country a user selects.

MegaMenus are highly versatile and can also be used for About Us Page content, PDF downloads, Input Forms and a host of jQuery accessories.

Consider the MegaMenu for your next custom website development project.

17 Designs recently added a Testimonial Slideshow and an Instagram Feed to the Dearcroft Montessori custom WordPress website.  The Testimonial Slideshow is a leading generating tool and it is hoped that by demonstrating positive parent and graduate feedback new students will be attracted to attend the school.  The Instagram Feed gives useful insight to parents on activities students participate in and its purpose is to showcase how nurturing and caring an environment Dearcroft is.

The addition of the Testimonial Slideshow was achieved using a Plugin that was further customized using CSS @media queries to fit required screen dimensions and also had a unique background added to celebrate Dearcroft’s 50th Anniversary. A testimonial submission form with heading, name, email, website and photo was included in this update.  Parent testimonials are submitted first to Dearcroft staff via email and then can be approved using a WordPress interface (similar to Posts) before going live.

The Instagram Feed was achieved using a JavaScript that is linked to Dearcroft’s Instagram account.  As photos are added to Instagram the website is automatically updated.

Visit www.dearcroft-montessori.com to see the Testimonial Slideshow and Instagram Feed.

The Friedrich Schiller Schule Lanugage School is a non-profit school that offers German language instruction for all ages and abilities, from pre-school to adult, from beginners to fluent speakers.  During the school year classes are held in the Allan A. Martin Senior Public School, 1390 Ogden Avenue, Mississauga on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Since Friedrich Schiller Schule Lanugage School is also a charitable organization (Charitable Registration No. 10701 6958 RR0001) it needs to fund raise to purchase Shutterstock royalty free photos to complete the website.  If you would like to support this school in its efforts to promote the German lanugage and heritage please contact their principal Christine Guschewski by email guschewski@ica.net or by phone 647-528-8913.

17 Designs was excited to create this mobile-friendly WordPress website www.brcrestoration.ca for start-up company BRC Restoration Inc. (Uxbridge, ON).  It is normal for a new company to be cautious on how much to invest in marketing and a new website.  For many new businesses no income is coming in but there are a lot of expenditures.  That’s where 17 Designs can help by developing an introductory website that has the potential to grow.  These sites generally start off as 3 pages (Home, Contact and News) and expand as the business propers.

The BRC Restoration website has everything it needs to make an immediate impact in the construction industry and also generate leads.  The Home Page includes an animated banner featuring large scale construction projects with summarized impact statements, About Us text, links to Association Partners, a Contact Us callout and a Portfolio of Recent Projects.  The site also features Blog postings with construction photos.  Each article includes multiple TAGS (keywords) which will trigger organic SEO.  Ask us how we can create and maintain a WordPress website for your new business.

17 Designs recently updated the custom PHP website of our Oakville-based client Bronte Collection www.brontecollection.ca by adding two new product categories (Grabcessories and LiveWell) and by posting 67 products available for sale through Bronte’s Shopify portal.  The update required changes to the Bronte website MegaMenu to allow for a second row of product categories.  A new, stylish jQuery LayerSlider banner was developed and two feature pages were added – one to promote organic SEO for the new Bronte products; and, the other to explain the Free Mounting System included with each purchase.  Display of the new Grabcessories products required re-engineering of product templates to include a jQuery hover activated product image switch, the addition of product availability status (for products Coming Soon and those Priced on Request), a Product Inquiry Form and additional product finishes.  And finally, these new product categories required updates to the website secure back-end for product maintenance and support.

Bronte Collection carries Grabcessories products because…

“Grabcessories independent Living System will greatly reduce falls in the bathroom giving caregivers, family members and end-users peace of mind.  Falls are the leading cause of injury death for older North Americans. Falls threaten seniors’ safety and independence and generate enormous economic and personal costs. However, falling is not an inevitable result of aging. Through highly researched Fall Prevention systems like Grabcessories, evidence-based interventions, practical lifestyle adjustments, and community partnerships, the number of falls among seniors can be substantially reduced.”
